Canon has announced the RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM, price tag £699.99 / €799.99 / $649.99, a new super-telephoto zoom lens aimed at sports and wildlife photographers.
Boasting a massive focal range, the new RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM will also accept the Canon RF 1.4x and 2x tele extenders for even more reach – the first time this is available in a non-L series lens.
The Canon RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM also provides up to 5.5 stops of optical IS and six stops of correction with coordinated IS. It’s also lighter than the EF 70-300 IS II lens, meaning it should be easier to shoot handheld.
At the 400mm telephoto end users can expect 0.41x magnification and promises nearly silent AF during video recording.
Other features include a Nano USM for high-speed AF performance, a nine-blade aperture and a 67mm filter thread.
The Canon RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM release date will be October 2021.
