Canon has announced the EOS R10, price tag £899.99 / $979.99 / €1079.99, the second of two new APS-C format mirrorless cameras that join the company’s EOS R system.

An all-rounder for both stills and video, the EOS R10 is seen as carrying the torch of the popular EOS 90D DSLR and features a newly designed 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. This is paired with Canon’s latest DIGIC X image processor.

Canon EOS R10 Specifications

Like the Canon EOS R7 also announced today, the EOS R10 can shoot at a blistering 15fps in its continuous shooting mode with the mechanical shutter and up to 23fps with the electronic shutter, aided by the DIGIC X processor. The new Canon camera can also reach maximum shutter speeds of 1/4,000sec with its mechanical shutter and 1/16,000sec with its electronic shutter.

Like the R7, the EOS R10 also inherits Canon’s intelligent autofocus technology with deep learning and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II. Its AF system can focus in light conditions as low as -4EV.

Overall, the EOS R0 offers 4,503 AF positions to select when shooting stills and 3,713 when shooting video.

The camera’s native ISO rate runs from 100 to 32,000 and is expandable up to ISO 51,200.

Video

Like the R7, the Canon EOS R10 can shoot 4K video at up to 60p, however this is subject to a 64% crop on the R10. It’s also possible to shoot 4K video at 30p down-sampled from 6K footage. Meanwhile, slow-motion fans will enjoy Full HD video at up to 120p.

The maximum duration for video-recording on the R10 is 2 hours. Its footage can be output at HDR PQ (YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit) in-camera, or via HDMI.

Like the R7, the R10 can also record HDR PQ (YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit BT.2020) movies that provide high dynamic range with minimal grading.

While the EOS R10 lacks IBIS, which the R7 has, it can use data from lenses with Optical IS to maximise its Movie Digital IS.

Body Design

The compact and lightweight EOS R10 weighs just 429g with its battery and card inserted, which is lighter than even the EOS 250D. It also measures just 122.5 x 87.8 x 83.4mm .

On the back of the camera is a 2.95-inch, 1.04-million-dot, vari-angle LCD touchscreen and a 0.39-inch 2,360,000-dots OLED EVF.

Canon EOS R10 Price

The Canon EOS R10 price tag is £899.99 / $979.99 / €1079.99 for the body only. A release date is expected around the end of July 2022, Canon says.
