Canon has launched a revamped version of its popular EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM, price tag £1,569.99/€1,879.99 with a release date in November 2017.
The Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM boasts a new 14 elements in 10 groups design, and Canon says it has been optimised with high-precision elements to accommodate the new breed of high-resolution sensors.
What’s more, the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM employs a new Air Sphere Coating, which is effectively a low-refractive index layer on the lens that Canon says eliminates all flare and ghosting.
Other features include an Electro Magnetic diaphragm comprised of nine blades and 4-stop image stabilisation to prevent camera shake.
While ideal for portrait photography, the EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM’s weather sealing, dustproofing and fluorine coating also make it rugged for outdoor photographers to use in all conditions.
The Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM also offers a high-speed ring type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) driven Auto Focus (AF), which Canon says is completely silent for more discreet shooting, as well as noise-free videography.
The new Canon lens’s AF also features a full-time manual override and is compatible with the entire family of Cinema EOS cameras.
