Canon has announced two new accessories: the Canon Microphone DM-E10D, a compact digital hot-shoe mic for creators, and the Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-N3. The TC-N3 replaces the long-serving TC-80N3 and is also available in a TC-E3 version. Both go on sale in December 2026.

Canon Microphone DM-E10D

The DM-E10D is designed for anyone who talks to camera, whether that’s vlogging, live streaming or recording quick pieces to camera on the go. It uses a supercardioid pickup pattern, so it concentrates on sound coming from in front of the camera and helps cut down background noise.

The key feature is that it connects digitally through Canon’s Multi-function Shoe. Audio is sent straight into the camera, and the mic is powered and controlled by the camera too. That means there’s no cable to plug in, no battery to charge and no transmitter or receiver to pair. There’s also a dedicated MENU button that jumps straight to the camera’s sound recording settings.

At approximately 59g and just 53.7mm long, Canon says it’s the smallest hot-shoe microphone it has made. Canon’s images show it mounted on the EOS R50 V with the RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens.

Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-N3 and TC-E3

The TC-80N3 has been a staple in camera bags for years, so a replacement is overdue. The TC-N3 gets a larger LCD with an orange backlight that’s easier to read in the dark, along with redesigned buttons and cross keys. There are also dedicated power and self-timer/time buttons, and Canon says the controller can be used comfortably in either hand.

The biggest functional change is the new time setting. As well as interval and long-exposure timers, you can now set a start time and an end time for a sequence. That makes it much more useful for astrophotography, time-lapse and unattended shooting, where you might want the camera to start capturing after dark and stop before dawn without you standing beside it.

Both versions have a tripod socket and run on two AAA batteries. The TC-N3 uses Canon’s N3 terminal and the TC-E3 uses the E3 terminal, so between them they cover a wider range of Canon cameras.

Our take

The DM-E10D’s cable-free, battery-free design is what makes it appealing. Being able to clip a mic on and forget about it is exactly what most vloggers want. The TC-N3, meanwhile, finally adds the scheduling we’ve wanted from Canon’s remote for a long time. Pricing will decide how they compare with third-party alternatives, and we’ll update this story when we have it.
