TTArtisan has released a new green and titanium version of its AF 50mm f/1.8 Neo, one of the cheapest full-frame autofocus lenses you can buy.

Optically, nothing has changed from the original Neo, which launched earlier this year. It’s a full-frame 50mm f/1.8 with STM stepping-motor autofocus, built from 12 elements in 8 groups, including two ED elements and four high-refractive-index elements. It focuses down to 0.48m and weighs just 156–167g depending on the mount. To keep the price and size down, there’s no aperture ring or manual focus ring.

The new finish pairs a green barrel with titanium-coloured details, and a matching lens hood is included. The original Neo was designed to be customised, so the new colourway fits well with TTArtisan’s playful approach to the range.

The real story is still the price. At $89, this is a full-frame autofocus 50mm for about the cost of a decent memory card. That makes it an easy recommendation for beginners and students moving on from a kit zoom who want to try a fast prime for portraits and low-light shooting, and the green finish will stand out in a camera bag full of black lenses.
