With the imminent announcement of the new, possibly compact GoPro “Lit Hero”, DJI have pre-empted the release by launching their latest wearable camera — the DJI Osmo Nano. This lightweight, hands-free camera redefines wearable photography with an impressive balance of portability, video quality and AI-driven smart features, designed for creators on the move.
The DJI Osmo Nano weighs just 100g and magnetically clips onto clothing or accessories, allowing users to record stabilised 4K/60fps video without lifting a finger. Engineered with creators, vloggers, and outdoor adventurers in mind, the Nano aims to deliver the freedom of action cameras in a package that’s smaller, smarter, and more intuitive than ever before.
Central to the Osmo Nano’s appeal is its large 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, a noticeable upgrade from most compact action cams. The sensor captures 12MP stills and high-dynamic-range video, while DJI’s renowned RockSteady stabilisation ensures footage remains smooth, even in fast-paced environments. A field of view of 155° adds cinematic flair, capturing more of the scene while maintaining minimal distortion.
A standout feature is DJI’s AI Gesture Control, which enables users to trigger recording, switch modes or take photos with simple hand movements. The camera also includes subject tracking and built-in voice control, making it ideal for solo shooting or immersive point-of-view content creation.
DJI have clearly taken aim at GoPro’s stronghold on the action camera market, timing the Osmo Nano’s announcement just as anticipation for the GoPro Lit Hero reaches its peak. While both cameras promise innovation in compact form factors, DJI’s offering looks to carve its niche by prioritising ease of use, stabilisation and AI capabilities.
