DJI has officially launched the Mini 5 Pro, its most advanced mini drone to date, introducing a host of firsts in the under-250g category. Headlining the updates is a world-first 1-inch CMOS sensor for a drone of its size, bringing improved low-light performance and cinematic clarity to the palm-sized aircraft. The Mini 5 Pro is designed to give photographers and content creators greater flexibility, enhanced safety, and smarter shooting options in virtually any environment.

The 50MP 1-inch sensor significantly upgrades imaging capabilities, especially in low-light conditions such as sunsets or urban night scenes. New to this model is a 48mm Med-Tele mode, which enables subject separation with refined digital zoom resolution. DJI’s portrait optimisation tech further boosts the quality of human subjects with better contrast, brightness, and natural-looking skin tones.

For videographers, the Mini 5 Pro records in 4K at 60fps HDR, offering up to 14 stops of dynamic range, perfect for high-contrast environments. Those looking for slow-motion footage can shoot in 4K at 120fps. The addition of 10-bit video with H.265 encoding supports D-Log M and HLG colour modes, making post-production workflows even more robust.

One of the standout new features is the 225° flexible gimbal rotation, which enables true vertical shooting—ideal for social media platforms—without any cropping. With intelligent flight modes such as QuickShot Rotate, Waypoint Flight, and Spotlight, creative camera moves are made effortless.

Flight safety gets a major boost thanks to a new omnidirectional sensing system. This includes forward-facing LiDAR, fisheye and binocular lenses, and a 3D infrared sensor, enabling safer low-light operation and reliable obstacle avoidance. The Mini 5 Pro also features nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing, real-time vision positioning, and non-GNSS Return-to-Home (RTH), allowing it to memorise and return safely from flights even without satellite signals.

ActiveTrack 360° has been improved to better adapt to dynamic scenarios, such as tracking moving subjects during cycling or hiking. With enhanced scene recognition and framing, the drone ensures cinematic quality tracking with smooth, agile movement.

Additional features like MasterShots, Free Panorama, and Off-State QuickTransfer (which allows high-speed file transfer even when the drone is powered off) round out a user-friendly, professional toolset.
