Today WANDRD has announced the launch of the Fernweh camera backpack, a camera bag designed to experience the adventure with you.
The company and designers behind the pack have worked hard to create a bag that they wanted. One that fulfilled their needs as photographers to get out into the wilderness, explore and capture stunning images.
This bag is a cross between a camera and a true backpacker rucksack.
“At WANDRD, we’re all about creating carry solutions that are truly the best they can be. So, as we were looking at the products we want to carry us throughout our days, we saw gaps in options for camera, backpacking bags — specifically in comfort, access and versatility,” says Spencer Cope, WANDRD co-founder and lead designer.
As the design of the bag developed those involved set three key points, this bag needed to be comfortable enough to carry on multi-day adventures, it needed to have good access and it needed to be versatile.
Looking closer at those key points, starting with comfort, the Fernweh has been developed to be as customisable as possible and ensuring a good comfortable fit.
The backpack is available in two sizes small/medium and medium/large with adjustable shoulder and waist straps. The shoulder straps are removable if needed and the waist strap is contoured to the hip to give a more comfortable fit.
Obviously, if you’re carrying all your kit on your back you need to have good airflow and the use of breathable slotted EVA foam and an Airmesh back panel, straps and belt enable exactly that.
Access for any camera bag is integral to the design, and with the Fernweh Wandrd has included four different points of access. Through the front and back in a clamshell-style design, a quick draw side access and through the top.
Versatility is the last key feature and this comes down to several features that include the hydration bladder which is contained in a sealed water secured area away from your camera kit. Then there’s the oversized water bottle storage pocket, carry straps under the bag for a tent, sleeping bag or tripod, ice axe loops, multiple exterior loops and plenty of exterior webbing.
When it comes to the camera storage there are removable modules within that can be configured to suit your needs. These modules are fully padded and offer good protection.
