The United States has added DJI to its Entity List which forbids American companies from exporting technology to the world’s largest drone maker.
The move is the latest high-profile restriction on a major Chinese tech company and follows the Trump administration’s decision to ban US companies from trading with Huawei last year.
The US government says that the new export controls on DJI are because the company has played a role in ‘wide-scale human rights abuses within China through abusive genetic collection and analysis or high-technology surveillance.’
The new US government filing, however, allows for a ‘case-by-case review for items necessary to detect identify and treat infectious disease; presumption of denial for all other items.’
