Tamron is developing an ultra-telephoto zoom lens for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras, which will be the Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD.
The Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD will offer an 8x zoom ratio that begins at a standard focal length of 50mm and will be the same size as a conventional 100-400mm telephoto zoom lens.
Tamron’s 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD will measure just 18.3cm and weigh in at 1.155g and provide up to one-half life-size magnification during close focus. This means users can shoot half-macro images with a minimum object distance of 25cm at the 50mm end of the focal range.
The Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD will also come equipped with a Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive (VXD) linear motor focus mechanism that promises quiet, responsive AF performance. The new Tamron lens will also come with the company’s VC stabilisation mechanism.
Other features will include a connector port for Tamron Lens Utility, which will also include a new Focus Limiter function, rapid zooming and an optional tripod mount.
The Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD also boasts a moisture-resistant construction and a Fluorine coating.
No Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD price tag has been revealed as yet. Tamron says the lens’ release date will come in the autumn of 2022.
