Sony has announced its latest lens for its full-frame cameras, introducing the FE 35mm f/1.8, price tag £630/€700, with a release date set for August.

The Sony FE 35mm f/1.8, model SEL35F18F, promises portability and convenience with its 65.6mm (diameter) by 73mm (length) measurements, and weighs just 280g.

Inside is a nine-blade circular aperture, and the optical construction also includes an aspherical element to combat aberrations.

Minimum focus distance is 0.22m, and the FE 35mm f/1.8 offers a maximum magnification of 0.24x.

On the lens barrel is a focus hold button, which is customisable, and a focus mode switch to allow users to swap between manual and autofocus. AF promises quiet operation thanks to its linear motor AF drive system.

The new Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 is also dust and moisture resistant.

You can pre-order the Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 Adorama in the US or Wex Photo Video in the UK.
