Sony has announced the FDR-AX43 – price tag £600/€700 – a new 4K Handycam with a built-in gimbal and Balanced Optical SteadyShot technology.
Aimed at those who want to create travel diaries or everyday videos of their family, the Sony FDR-AX43 features a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with 20x optical zoom and 30x Clear Image Zoom in 4K or 40x for HD.
Inside is a 1/2.5-inch Exmor R CMOS sensor and Sony’s Bionz X image processing engine. The Sony FDR-AX43 records at 100Mbps for XAVC S 4K and 50Mbs for HD.
Other features include three mic capsules for recording audio and an articulated LCD for selfie filming. The FDR-AX43 also provides a battery life of up to 235 minutes of continuous recording.
Users can also create short movies without the need for post-production using a new Highlight Movie Maker mode.
Already launched in the United States, the Sony FDR-AX43 price tag is $849 and will cost £600/€700 upon its European release date in June.
