SmallRig has announced the release of the SmallRig Forevala W60 Wireless Microphone 3487. This universal microphone kit has been designed to work with any camera that supports a 3.5mm audio input and is an ideal solution for anyone filming interviews and vlogging.

The two transmitters (TX) and receiver (RX) that make up the kit all feature built-in power with up to 8 hours of life.

To ensure maximum audio quality, the SmallRig Forevala W60 Wireless Microphone 3487 features dual-channel, low-latency wireless audio transmission with a clear sight range of 100m. This means that the high-quality audio captured with the professional, high-performance omnidirectional condenser microphone can be captured by the transmitters (TX) and sent to the receiver (RX) at 48kHz 16bits.

This high-quality audio capture is made possible by the ARM Cortex-M4F microprogrammed Control Unit (MCU), Digital Signal Processor (DSP), Radio Frequency Power Amplifier (RFPA) and Low Dropout Regulator. This powerful computing combination enables the transmission of high-fidelity lossless audio.

While the compact TX and RX might utilise the latest in processing, and audio technology, the SmallRig Forevala W60 Wireless Microphone 3487 can last up to 8 hours. What’s more, if the power does run low, the devices can be charged in one of three ways to full capacity in just an hour and a half. Charging options are a USB-C connector on the sides of the two TX and the RX through the case or a USB Type-C connected to the case.

The price of the SmallRig Forevala W60 Wireless Microphone 3487 makes these wireless microphones accessible to all levels of videographer and filmmaker. However, while this audio kit is relatively cheap at under £200 / $200, SmallRig hasn’t cut back on the professional features.

Features such as utilising 2.4G Adaptive Frequency Hopping technology and built-in SMULL (Synchronise Multi-Node Ultra-Low_latency) communication algorithm ensure that latency is kept as low as 10ms up to 100m as long as there are no obstructions.

Other audio features include a simple one-touch low-Cut filter that helps to eliminate low-frequency noise below 200Hz, such as air conditioning and the rumble of traffic. You can even record in either mono or stereo, depending on the production type and your audio requirements. Along with all of these features, the SmallRig Forevala W60 Wireless Microphone 3487 can also be plugged into compatible external microphones such as discrete lavalier.
