Samsung has announced a new microSD card, the Samsung PRO Endurance. This memory card has been designed to meet the demands of high load imaging devices, such as action cameras, drones and smartphones.
The new card incorporates Samsungs enterprise-grade NAND flash memory and is designed to provide a reliable storage solution that will last for years. Samsung state that the card has been developed to last for up to 16 years or 140,160 hours of continuous recording, which is quite some feat.
To put this in perspective, this card’s endurance is some 33 times more than faster-rated cards. High-performance cards often offer performance well beyond the requirements of the action camera, drone or smartphone in which they’re installed.
Improved Performance
In the past, this enterprise level of the card has been limited in appeal, especially in the imaging world, due to the relatively slow transfer speeds. However, this new card far exceeds standard enterprise cards when it comes to its speed class. Rated at Class 10, the video speed rating of U3 and V30 ensures that this card is more than enough to provide the performance required for the likes of the GoPro Hero10 Black and DJI Mavic 3 Pro.
Samsung state that the card can surpass the speeds of the V30 class with read speeds of 100MB/s and a write speed of 40MB/s, ideal for handling the Full HD and 4K video.
Further enhancing the card’s appeal to users of action cameras and drones is the card’s physical reinforced six-proof durability. The card offers protection against water, magnets, X-rays, and extreme temperatures and is now wear out proof and drop-proof.
The card is available now in four different capacities 32, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, with retail prices (MSRP) ranging from £11.99 for the 32GB to £58.99 for the 256GB. Pro Endurance microSD cards come with an SD adapter in the box. For more information, please visit https://samsung.com/memory-card.
