Ricoh has announced a new duo of Pentax lenses, introducing the HD PENTAX-D FA ★ 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW and HD PENTAX-DA ★ 11-18mm f/2.8 lenses.

The new Pentax lenses are the first of a new Star-series range of premium optics for Pentax’s K-mount cameras.

With a release date set for spring 2018, the HD PENTAX-D FA * 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW covers the image circle of a 35mm-format full-frame image sensor.

It boasts a new ring-shaped Supersonic Direct-drive Motor that Ricoh says delivers a faster and quieter autofocus performance.

The Star series 50mm f/1.4 is also dust- and rain-proof (the AW stands for All Weather), and offers a minimum shooting distance of 0.4 meters.

Set for a summer 2018 release date, the HD PENTAX-DA * 11-18mm f/2.8 covers the image circle of an APS-C-format image sensor and offers an equivalent focal length of 17mm and 27.5mm.
