GoPro has opened pre-orders for its new MISSION 1 Series, and the MISSION 1 PRO is the model I’d expect most serious creators to look at first. The official announcement confirms that MISSION 1 PRO, MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition and MISSION 1 became available for pre-order on 21 May 2026, with shipping of pre-orders and global on-shelf availability beginning on 28 May 2026.

What makes this launch particularly interesting is that GoPro is not just offering a single camera box. On the UK GoPro product page, the purchase selector currently shows MISSION 1, MISSION 1 PRO, MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition, MISSION 1 PRO Dive Bundle, MISSION 1 PRO ILS and MISSION 1 PRO Creator Edition. The page also shows what comes in each box, which is handy if you are trying to avoid buying accessories twice.

The standard MISSION 1 PRO package includes the MISSION 1 PRO Camera, Enduro 2 Battery, Removable Lens Hood and Curved Adhesive Mount. That is the cleanest route for readers who already own mounts or want to build a rig gradually. The MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition swaps the focus towards run-and-gun handling, pairing the camera with GoPro’s Point-and-Shoot Grip. GoPro describes that grip as a 2-in-1 solution that can work as a lightweight one-handed grip or as a mountable metal cage with cold shoe mounts, 1/4-20 mounting and magnetic latch mounting.

For underwater or travel creators, the MISSION 1 PRO Dive Bundle is the more complete option. It includes the camera, Protective Housing for MISSION 1 Series, Anti-Fog Inserts, a 40in / 1m carbon fibre extension pole and a Carrying Case. That should appeal to divers, snorkellers and anyone who wants the 60m housing rather than relying only on the camera’s built-in 20m waterproofing.

Two options are worth flagging as “coming soon” rather than immediate pre-orders. The MISSION 1 PRO ILS is the interchangeable-lens version, built around Micro Four Thirds compatibility, while the MISSION 1 PRO Creator Edition bundles the MISSION 1 PRO Camera with Volta 2, Wireless Mic Complete Kit, Media Mod for MISSION 1 Series and Magnetic Latch Mount. GoPro’s launch announcement says the ILS, Creator Edition and Ultimate Creator Edition are due beginning Q3 2026.

The headline spec is the move into compact cinema territory. GoPro lists the MISSION 1 PRO with a 50MP 1in sensor, GP3 processor, 8K60 16:9 video, 8K30 Open Gate 4:3 video, 4K240 16:9 video, 4K120 4:3 video, 32-bit float audio capture, HyperSmooth with 360-degree Horizon Lock, and a 207g body. In other words, this is pitched less as a casual action camera and more as a tiny rugged cinema tool for people who want serious reframing, slow motion and audio flexibility in a pocketable body.
