Fujifilm X-T6 reportedly postponed — and may not arrive this year at all

Anyone holding out for an X-T6 this year may need to reconsider. Mirrorless Rumors reports that Fujifilm has postponed the launch, and that we probably will not see a new X-T6 in 2026 at all. No reason has been offered.

This is a significant reversal. Only days ago the expectation was an early-September announcement, supported by a scheduled B&H hands-on event and Fujifilm’s own Fujikina event anticipated in Paris. Those signals pointed to a launch that was close. If this new report is accurate, something has changed.

It is worth being honest about what we are dealing with: two rumour reports contradicting each other within a fortnight. That is a reminder to treat all of this as speculation rather than schedule. Rumours about the X-T6 have been circulating for months, and the only reliable information will come from Fujifilm.

What we can say with more confidence is that Fujifilm has not launched a single X Series camera so far in 2026, which is unusual for the company. A postponement would extend that drought considerably and leave the X-T5 as the enthusiast flagship well into next year.

Two related facts sit alongside this. Fujifilm has explicitly confirmed that the X-T5 has not been discontinued, despite some Japanese retailer listings suggesting otherwise. And Fujifilm is raising prices on five cameras from 1 September, including the X-T50, X-E5, X-S20, X100VI and GFX100 II.

That combination changes the calculation for anyone waiting. If the X-T6 really is not coming this year, and current-generation prices rise in three weeks’ time, then holding out costs you money rather than saving it. Our advice, as ever: buy the camera that exists if you need one now.
