According to Fuji Rumors, the Fujifilm X-T6 was meant to launch on 4 September but was held back by a component shortage, and is now expected to be announced in November.

If you’ve been holding off on a new Fujifilm body, it looks like the X-T6 is getting closer. Fuji Rumors reports that, according to its trusted sources, the X-T6 is now scheduled to be announced sometime in November.

The site says the camera was originally planned for Fujifilm’s 4 September announcement, but had to be delayed due to a component shortage. In the end, the only new product launched that day was the Fujinon XF 400mmF4.5.

Fujifilm hasn’t confirmed any of this, and Fuji Rumors itself notes that the November timing only holds if there are no further delays, so treat this one as a rumour for now.

Four years on from the X-T5

A November launch would arrive roughly four years after the X-T5, which was announced on 2 November 2022. That’s a long cycle for one of Fujifilm’s most popular lines, and the X-T5’s 40MP sensor and classic dial-based handling are still a strong combination today.

Fuji Rumors has already been tracking leaks of the X-T6, including images of its top plate, so if the timing holds, we should learn a lot more over the coming weeks.

Our take

The X-T series is the heart of Fujifilm’s X lineup for many enthusiasts, and the X-T5’s mix of physical dials and high resolution made it a favourite with photographers moving over from film cameras. A delay of a couple of months isn’t a disaster, but it does mean anyone shopping for a Christmas camera may be left waiting. We’ll update as soon as Fujifilm makes anything official.
