Fujifilm has announced a new Silver colourway for the Instax Mini 99, its high-end analogue instant camera, arriving in late July 2026. The camera itself is unchanged — same body, same feature set — but the new matte silver finish, with silver accents on the lens and dials, gives it a more classic, camera-inspired look to sit alongside the existing black version. Full details are on Fujifilm’s announcement.
As a quick refresher, the Mini 99 launched in April 2024 as the enthusiast’s Instax. Its standout trick is Color Effect Control, which shines coloured LEDs inside the body directly onto the film to produce six different colour looks — from faded green and warm tone to sepia and a light-leak effect — alongside a Vignette Mode that darkens the edges to draw the eye to the centre. It’s the most creatively flexible camera in the analogue Instax line, and the sort of thing that rewards experimentation.
The new finish leans into that premium positioning with a leather-like matte texture and, Fujifilm says, a more sophisticated look intended to suit a wider range of styles. It’s a two-colour lineup now, black or silver, and that’s really the extent of the news — there’s no change under the skin.
We’ll be honest: a fresh colourway is modest news in isolation. But the Mini 99 is comfortably the pick of the analogue Instax range, and a smart matte silver is likely to shift plenty of units among buyers who found the all-black version a touch stealthy. If you were tempted by the Mini 99 but wanted something with a bit more visual character, this is a welcome option.
