Adobe has released its Premiere mobile app on Android, a year after it arrived on iPhone. The app is free to download and use, with no watermarks, ads, forced sign-in or upgrade prompts, and it can edit and export video in 4K.
For photographers who shoot video on their phones or transfer clips from a camera, it offers a proper multi-track editor without the need for a laptop.
Features
Premiere on Android offers frame-accurate editing on a multi-track timeline for layering video, music, text and effects. There’s an Enhance Audio tool to reduce background noise and improve speech, along with effects, transitions, creator-made templates and access to Adobe Stock assets.
Adobe’s Firefly generative AI tools are also built in, including Generative Fill, Image-to-Video and Generate Sound Effects. These use generative credits, which can be topped up through optional paid plans that also add extra cloud storage.
Adobe says more features are on the way, including Adobe Fonts, improved captions, keyframes, cropping and beat detection.
Our take
A free, watermark-free editor with 4K export is a strong offer, and it puts Adobe in direct competition with CapCut and other popular mobile editors. The fact that projects can be continued in Premiere on the desktop will make it particularly appealing to anyone already working in Adobe’s ecosystem.
