Panasonic has officially announced the release of two new full-frame mirrorless cameras—the LUMIX S1II and LUMIX S1IIE—these two new additions further reinforce Panasonics S Series lineup. Engineered for professionals and creative enthusiasts alike, these second-generation models emphasise high-speed performance, enhanced image quality, and flexible video functionality.
At the core of the LUMIX S1II is a newly developed 24.1MP partially stacked full-frame CMOS sensor combined with an advanced Venus Engine. This combination delivers rapid processing speeds, enabling high-resolution formats including 5.1K 60p and 4K 120p video. Videographers will benefit from the Dynamic Range Boost mode, which achieves up to 15 stops of dynamic range in V-Log when shooting below 30p. Still photographers, meanwhile, gain access to rapid-fire continuous shooting at up to 70fps with the SH/SH Pre-Burst mode, ensuring they never miss a moment.
Complementing this, the LUMIX S1IIE offers a 24.2MP sensor inspired by the LUMIX S5II, and introduces a new Cinemascope (2.4:1) video format, ideal for creative productions. With 6K 30p open gate video recording and 14+ stops of dynamic range, the S1IIE retains many of the S1II’s high-end features while appealing to users who prioritise ergonomic design and usability.
Both cameras share advanced capabilities such as real-time Phase Hybrid autofocus with enhanced eye, face, and urban sports recognition, and 8.0-stop in-body image stabilisation. Panasonic has also equipped these models with ARRI LogC3 (via a software upgrade), Apple ProRes RAW support, and seamless integration with popular platforms such as Capture One and Frame.io. Additionally, features like HEIF file support, wireless connection options, and video assist tools underscore their appeal to modern content creators.
Reliability is assured with rugged designs rated for temperatures as low as -10°C and mechanical shutters tested for 400,000 cycles. Dual media slots support both SD and CFexpress Type B cards, enhancing workflow flexibility. Panasonic also includes compatibility with LUMIX Lab and LUMIX Flow apps, streamlining file transfer, editing, and data management for professionals.
With the LUMIX S1II and S1IIE, Panasonic once again builds on the success of the S line-up of cameras and offers photographers and filmmakers a solid option for every stage of their creative journey.
