Panasonic has announced a new budget wide-angle zoom for its L-mount system, introducing the LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO, price tag €999 / £879.99.
The new LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO is comprised of 14 elements in 10 groups, which includes one aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion lens, one aspherical lens, there Extra-Low Dispersion lenses and one Ultra High Refractive Index lens for better bokeh and to keep chromatic aberrations at bay.
The compact, lightweight lens weighs just 345g, and its macro functionality offers 0.25x magnification at 14mm and 0.5x magnification at the 28mm end of the focal range. It also offers a minimum focusing distance of just 0.15m.
For the LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO linear setting, focus is shifted with a designated amount according to the rotational quantum of the focus ring. For the non-linear setting, focus is shifted with a variable amount according to the rotation speed of the focus ring.
The new Panasonic lens is also aimed at those who shoot video, offering silent operation and features such as micro-step aperture control.
Other features include a dust- and splash-proof design, and a 77mm filter thread.
The LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO release date will be February 2023.
