Panasonic has announced the Lumix G100 – price tag £589.99 – a new portable vlogging camera with enhanced audio features.
Sitting just below the Lumix G90 in its mirrorless line-up, the Panasonic G100 is aimed at new bloggers and people taking their first steps into videography.
To aid new vloggers, the Panasonic G100 boasts a new audio feature called Zoo Audio, developed in collaboration with Nokia, which aims to improve sound quality in your videos without the need of an external microphone – although the camera also has a 3.5mm external mic port.
OZO Audio is comprised of three internal microphones that work in tandem with the camera’s face detection AF to identify which person within the frame is speaking and thus optimise the audio to boost their voice.
There’s also a 3-inch, 1,840K-dot vari-angle touchscreen to aid vlogging. When you rotate the vary-angle screen forward for self-filming the G100 automatically enters selfie mode. Then if you press the record button a timer appears, counting down til recording starts.
The Panasonic G100 also offers Cinelike D, Cinelike V and V-Log L modes for more experienced videographers who want to colour grade their footage.
Video-wise, the Panasonic G100 can record 4K at 24, 25 and 30fps and 100Mbs, and its Four Thirds type CMOS sensor captures stills in 20.3-megapixel resolution.
Other features include a 3,480K-dot electronic viewfinder, a pop-up flash, hotshoe and a programmable button that, if not customised, will send your images or video files to a paired smart device.
