Olympus UK has announced that its Check & Clean service will not be available at The Photography Show 2020 due to coronavirus fears.
Olympus explained that the company has restricted international travel amongst its workforce as a preventative measure amidst the global outbreak of the COVID-19 virus.
Olympus’s Check & Clean team is based in Portugal, and will thus be unable to attend. The free service where Olympus technicians health check photographers’ cameras and clean their sensor has been a popular mainstay at The Photography Show.
In a message to its followers on Facebook, Olympus reiterates that while the Check & Clean team will be absent, the Olympus UK team will still be on hand providing hands-on advice with the company’s latest cameras and lenses. See the full statement below:
Due to the current global outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Olympus has taken the decision to limit international travel amongst its workforce. This means that our camera technicians from the Olympus Service Facility in Portugal will be unable to travel to The Photography Show in Birmingham from 14-17 March 2020 – and therefore there will be no Check & Clean service available on the Olympus UK stand this year.
We understand this will be disappointing to the many Olympus photographers who use this free service at TPS, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
