Nikon Has announced the Z fc, price tag from £899 / $956.95/ €1,049, a new DX-format mirrorless camera inspired by the classic Nikon FM2 SLR.
Inside the Nikon Z fc is a 20.9-megapixel APS-C (DX) format sensor and the capability to record 4K videos at up to 30p. Other headline Nikon Z fc specs include 11fps burst shooting and the first vari-angle flip screen in a Nikon Z series camera.
The big news around the Nikon Z fc is its classic design. Nikon based the camera’s design off the FM2 from the 1980s, and it boasts a magnesium alloy chassis and monocoque design.
Other throwback design features include a circular eyepiece for the EVF, metal dials on the top plate and a small OLED window that displays the aperture. The dials offer direct control over the shutter speed, ISO and exposure compensation. Nikon’s retro logo from the 1970s-80s is also inscribed on the body.
The Nikon Z fc offers built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, and supports Nikon’s SnapBridge app (version 2.8) for wireless image transfer to your phone and the ability to control the camera remotely from your device.
Other key Nikon Z fc specs include 209 AF points, Eye-Detection and Animal-Detection AF in both stills and video modes.
The new Nikon Z camera’s sensitivity ranges from ISO 100 to 51,200, which is expandable up to ISO 204,800. The maximum sensitivity while recording video is ISO 25,600. It also offers USB-C charging.
