Nikon has announced the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2, price tag £249 / €289 / $296.95, a new budget, fast-aperture prime lens in a compact design.
Compatible with Nikon’s full-frame FX-format mirrorless cameras, the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 standard prime is aimed at those who want to shoot candid portraits for film interviews and how-to videos.
Inside is a nine-blade aperture which promises natural-looking bokeh. The new Nikon lens is also powered by a stepping motor that promises faster and silent AF performance.
Minimum focus distance is 0.29m, and on Nikon DX-format cameras the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 provides a 60mm angle of view.
Design-wise, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 is small enough to fit in a coat pocket and has been sealed to protect from dust and water.
The Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 release date will be 30 September 2021 when sales start. You can pre-order the new Nikon lens at retailers such as B&H Photo Video and Wex Photo Video.
