Huawei has announced the P Smart Z 2019 smartphone which boasts a ‘bezel-less display’ and a pop-up 16-megapixel, f/2.2 camera.
With the Huawei P Smart Z 2019 the company has relocated the front camera, earpiece and ambient light sensor to give the phone a 2340 x 1080 Full HD display that accounts for 91% of its body.
The camera has been hidden within the P Smart Z 2019’s body and automatically emerges when taking selfies.
Propelled by a motor, Huawei says the pop-up lens can withstand 100,000 repetitions without damage, as well as the direct force of a 12kg object.
The P Smart Z 2019 front camera also inherits some of Huawei’s AI modes from its flagship smartphones. It can recognise eight common scenes: blue skies, greenery, indoor settings and snowy landscapes.
On the back of the Huawei P Smart Z 2019 is a dual camera setup featuring 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras.
The 16-megapixel main camera uses a six-lens plastic array design for improved resolution and contrast. Meanwhile, Huawei says its f/1.8 aperture takes in 50% more light than the more common f/2.2 aperture, promising low noise and fast focusing.
The 2-megapixel sensor works with the primary rear camera to gauge depth of field in the photo.
Other features include Huawei’s popular Night Mode and a 480fps super slow-motion video mode.
The Huawei P Smart Z 2019 is equipped with the 12nm process Kirin 710F chipset and 4,000 mAh large-capacity battery.
The P Smart Z 2019 price tag will be £279 and is available in June from retailers such as Amazon and Currys PC World.
