Lexar has announced the launch of its new SL500 Portable SSD, adding to the choice of high speed, high-capacity portable storage now available. The SL500 is targeted at users who require fast, reliable storage on the go, including photographers, creators, and videographers.

One of the key features of the SL500 is its exceptional speed. It offers USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 performance with read speeds up to 2000MB/s and write speeds up to 1800MB/s. This makes the SL500 nearly twice as fast as comparable products and significantly quicker than traditional SATA drives and hard disk drives (HDDs). Such speeds ensure efficient file transfers, making it an ideal choice for handling large files and intensive work.

The SL500 comes in capacities of 2TB and 4TB, with the 4TB option expected to be available in the first half of 2024. This range of capacities caters to various storage needs, from everyday use to professional demands.

In terms of design, the SL500 features a slim, stylish, and durable metal body. Its compact size, approximately the size of a credit card and just 4.8mm thick, makes it extremely portable and easy to carry.

The SSD is compatible with a wide range of devices, including PCs, Macs, Android devices, iPhone 15 series, gaming consoles, and cameras. This broad compatibility is a significant advantage for users who work across different platforms.

Security is also a focus for Lexar with the SL500. It includes Lexar DataShield with 256-bit AES encryption software, providing an additional layer of protection for sensitive files.

Overall, the Lexar SL500 Portable SSD looks to be an exciting product in the portable storage market, offering a combination of high speed, large capacity, sleek design, broad compatibility, and enhanced security.
