Leica Camera AG has announced the launch of the Leica D-Lux 8. As the latest addition to Leica’s line of digital compact cameras, the D-Lux 8 continues the legacy that began with the introduction of the first D-Lux in 2003. Over eight generations and numerous special editions.

The new D-Lux 8 offers the Leica experience in a compact and accessible form. It boasts a 4/3-inch CMOS sensor with a resolution of 21 MP (17 MP effective) and the Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34 f/1.7–2.8 ASPH. lens, which is equivalent to 24-75mm in a 35mm camera. This combination ensures exceptional image quality across various shooting conditions.

Leica has focused on enhancing user comfort by simplifying and ergonomically repositioning the controls. Inspired by the popular Leica Q-Cameras, the D-Lux 8’s user interface is more intuitive, making it easier to navigate and operate. Seamless connectivity with the Leica FOTOS app allows for quick sharing and remote control of the camera, adding to the convenience of modern photography.

The D-Lux 8 is the first in the D-Lux series to support the versatile DNG format, providing photographers with greater flexibility in post-processing. The inclusion of a flash further expands the camera’s versatility, making it suitable for a wide range of lighting situations.

Alongside the D-Lux 8, Leica will introduce a new range of accessories, including hand grips, carrying straps, wrist straps, and leather protectors available in multiple colours. Additional accessories, such as an automatic lens cap, soft release buttons, and various bags (hip bag, crossbody bag, and equipment bag), will also be available, enhancing the camera’s functionality and style.

The Leica D-Lux 8 will be available globally from 2nd July 2024 at Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and through authorised dealers. The recommended retail price is £1,450.00, including VAT. Customers can register at Leica Camera to be notified once the camera is available in stores.

I was waiting for this! Just wondering if they fixed the dust problem that the D-Lux 7 had. If so, it’s my next purchase!
