Hasselblad has expanded its XCD Portable (P) lens lineup with the new XCD 3,4/75P, a lightweight standard lens designed for photographers who value portability without compromising on quality. Targeting portrait, street, and still-life photographers, the XCD 3,4/75P combines advanced optics with a sleek, compact design that enhances Hasselblad’s medium-format X System cameras.

As the first standard lens in the XCD P series, the XCD 3,4/75P offers a 59mm full-frame equivalent focal length and an f/3,4 aperture, making it versatile for a range of subjects. It features a complex optical structure with ten elements in ten groups, including one aspherical and three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, ensuring sharp, vibrant images with minimal chromatic aberration. Designed to meet the demands of high-resolution, 100-megapixel sensors, this lens captures fine details from the centre to the edge of the frame with lifelike colour and clarity.

Aimed at photographers looking for an effective portrait lens, the XCD 3,4/75P’s 75mm focal length delivers a unique perspective that sits between standard and mid-telephoto. This allows it to capture both full-length and half-length portraits with rich, natural bokeh that enhances subject separation, especially in low light. The wide aperture of f/3,4 also ensures precise detail capture in dim conditions, adding to its versatility in various lighting scenarios.

Weighing just 398g and measuring only 71mm in length, the XCD 3,4/75P lens is ideal for photographers on the go, particularly those engaged in street or travel photography. Its compact form factor does not sacrifice style or durability, featuring Hasselblad’s signature “H” pattern around the focus ring and a sleek metal body that underscores its premium build quality.

The XCD 3,4/75P also boasts fast and accurate autofocus, driven by a linear stepping motor and a smaller, lighter focusing lens group. These design elements enable responsive focusing that is both quiet and precise, especially when paired with Hasselblad’s X System and V System cameras, which support phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). This setup delivers a smooth, adaptable focusing experience that remains unobtrusive, ideal for capturing candid or intimate moments.

Adding to its quiet performance, the XCD 3,4/75P is fitted with a compact leaf shutter, allowing shutter speeds up to 1/2000 second and full flash sync across all speeds. This provides flexibility for shooting fast-moving subjects or using flash in bright conditions, allowing photographers to experiment with light creatively.

The XCD 3,4/75P is available now for $2,229 / €2,529 from Hasselblad’s website and select retailers worldwide. Alongside the lens, Hasselblad has also introduced the X Extension Tube (9mm) for $299 / €339. Designed for X System cameras and the XCD lens series, this extension tube reduces the minimum focusing distance, enabling intricate close-up shots with greater detail capture.
