GoPro has introduced a new range of HB-Series lenses designed exclusively for the HERO13 Black, offering users more creative flexibility and control. These innovative lenses are the only ones compatible with GoPro’s patented HyperSmooth stabilization, enhancing the camera’s already impressive capabilities. Each lens in the series is waterproof, scratch-resistant, and features a hydrophobic coating to protect against water and dust, making them ideal for a variety of shooting environments.
The HB-Series consists of four different lenses, each designed to cater to a specific shooting style or environment, providing optimal settings adjustments to maximize image quality:
- Ultra Wide Lens Mod (£99.99): This lens transforms the HERO13 Black into a powerful point-of-view (POV) camera by capturing more in every shot with a 177° field of view and a new 1:1 aspect ratio. This wide-angle lens gives photographers and videographers the freedom to crop their footage to either widescreen 16:9 or vertical 9:16 formats, no matter how the camera is mounted. The Ultra Wide Lens Mod also enhances HyperSmooth performance, offering unbreakable 360° Horizon Lock in-camera video stabilization up to 4K60 resolution, making it ideal for dynamic action shots.
- Macro Lens Mod (£129.99): Perfect for capturing close-up details, the Macro Lens Mod allows for variable focus on objects that can be up to four times closer than with the standard GoPro lens. The variable focus ring enables users to manually adjust the focus distance from as close as 4.3 inches (11 cm), opening up new possibilities for creative macro photography and videography.
- Anamorphic Lens Mod (£129.99): Designed to capture ultra-wide-angle, cinematic footage with minimal distortion, this lens offers a dramatic 21:9 aspect ratio—commonly used in feature films. The Anamorphic Lens Mod also creates characteristic cinematic lens flares and allows for in-camera “de-squeezing,” which makes it easier to capture, review, and edit anamorphic content without the need for intensive post-production work. This lens is particularly suited for filmmakers looking to achieve a classic cinematic look.
- ND Filter 4-Pack (£69.99): This set of neutral density (ND) filters—available in ND4, ND8, ND16, and ND32—enables users to add cinematic motion blur to their shots easily. By attaching one of these filters, the HERO13 Black automatically detects it, switches into Auto Cinematic video mode, and adjusts the settings to suit the lighting conditions and desired effect. The ND filters are perfect for controlling exposure and creating smooth motion effects in bright lighting conditions.
These HB-Series lenses are sold separately from the HERO13 Black and are now available for preorder on GoPro.com. Shipping for the Ultra Wide Lens Mod, Macro Lens Mod, and ND Filter 4-Pack will commence on September 10, while the Anamorphic Lens Mod is set to be available in 2025.
