GoPro Enduro boosts HERO10 performance

It’s not been long since the release of the GoPro HERO10 Black, and now GoPro has announced an all-new battery. It’s not unusual for this to happen as the development of new batteries evolves quickly, but it is a shame it didn’t make the release of the GoPro HERO10 Black a couple of months back.

The company has done something very similar in the past with the GoPro HERO4+. In that case, the boosted battery arrived just in time for the release and became part of the retail package.

The new Enduro battery aims to boost the performance of the HER10 and HERO9 with better cold-weather performance and general battery life. As with the old battery the new GoPro Enduro battery is rated at 4.4v and 1720mAh so all performance boosts are through technology rather than the standard make-up of the unit.

The new battery is available for $24.99 (20% off for GoPro Subscribers) at GoPro.com.

Sponsored GoPro creators Spencer Whiting and Andrew Gayda, recently put Enduro to the test while filming together in Switzerland. “Enduro is a game-changer for winter conditions,” shared Whiting, while Gayda said, “I will 100% use this new battery when filming in cold environments.”

Launching a new battery in moderate isolation will be a hard sell for the company, so GoPro has gone out and tested the real-world impact of the unit when filming at -10. The results that came back were as follows:

· 56 minutes of 5.3K60 video

· 50 minutes of 4K120 video

· 76 minutes of 4K60 video

· 115 minutes of 1080p30 video

Unfortunately, they didn’t release details on the normal running time of the old battery for this set of results.

After the extreme cold test, the GoPro Enduro was then tested in standard conditions, 25ºC. Again using the HERO10 Black with the following results:

· 60 minutes of 5.3K60 video (a 28% improvement over the standard battery)

· 51 minutes of 4K120 video (a 40% improvement over the standard battery)

· 71 minutes of 4K60 video (a 13% improvement over the standard battery) · 120 minutes of 1080p30 video

Enduro is available now at GoPro.com in the U.S. and EMEA and will be available globally at retailers and speciality stores beginning early 2022. For more details check out gopro.com
