Fujifilm has announced the Fujinon XF18-120mm F4 LM PZ WR, price tag £899, a new versatile zoom lens designed for everyday photography and video.
Fujifilm’s new Fujinon XF18-120mm F4 LM PZ WR covers an equivalent focal length of 27mm to 183mm, providing a 6.7x zoom in a compact design. The new Fujinon lens also maintains a constant maximum aperture of f/4.0 across the entire zoom range.
It also offers a maximum magnification ratio of 0.2x for close-up shooting and the ability shoot as close as 46cm away from your subject.
The Fujinon XF18-120mm F4 LM PZ WR is comprised of 15 elements in 12 groups, of which there are three aspherical and three ED elements. The latter are designed to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration so that the lens can capture fine details.
Fujifilm has positioned the aspherical and ED elements to enable the Fujinon XF18-120mm F4 LM PZ WR design to measure just 123.5mm in length and weigh just 460g. What’s more, Fujifilm has used an Inner Zoom system, which means the lens doesn’t need to extend and allowing for the lighter weight construction.
Videographers will appreciate an upgraded aperture drive control that prevents exposure shift when the light levels change. There’s also a zoom / focus control ring that lets you control the pace of zooming or focusing at a variable speed. A new zoom button can also drive zooming at a constant pace.
The Fujinon XF18-120mm F4 LM PZ WR has also been weather-sealed at 13 locations around the body of the lens, making it dust and weather resistant.
