RED has released the first official images of it’s long-awaited holographic smartphone, the Hydrogen One, as well as announced a new release date.
Known for its cinema cameras, RED announced the Hydrogen One as a development project last year. Along with a modular design, the Hydrogen One will feature a Leica-made, 5.7-inch lightfield holographic display, using RED’s 4-View video format that creates 3D effects that you can see without wearing glasses.
What’s more, the Hydrogen One can double as a viewfinder when paired with one of RED’s upcoming cinema cameras.
The Hydrogen One is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chip, and also boasts 3D audio processing for spatial sound.

RED has also pushed back the Hydrogen One release date. It was originally slated for earlier this year, then pushed back to August 2018. Now RED is saying the Hydrogen One will be released on 2 November 2018, with pre-orders beginning on 9 October.
The Hydrogen One is believed to be priced around $1,295 upon its release.
