DxO launches PhotoLab 3 with new colour, local adjustment tools

DxO has announced PhotoLab 3, the latest version of its photo editing software, which brings new enhanced colour tools, local adjustment masks and other features.

At the heart of DxO PhotoLab 3’s new update is a revamp of the Hue, Saturation and Luminance tools (HSL). PhotoLab 3 adds what is called the DxO ColorWheel, which now enables you to select a colour range from eight different channels, fine tune the colour value, select a replacement colour and make adjustments to your transitions.

DxO has also updated the Saturation and Luminance sliders to operate more independently.

Local Adjustments Mask Manager

A new Local Adjustments Masks Manager allows users to make corrections to masks that have been layered within an image.

One-click functionality lets you reverse a selected mask, make them visible, adjust opacity or mask your selections.

Repair Tool

Local adjustments can be further fine tuned with PhotoLab 3’s updated Repair Tool, which is a brush you can use to erase unwanted elements from an image.

With the update you can now manually reposition the area in the source image that you want to use when reconstructing an area in the image you are editing.

There’s also a new Clone Mode, which enables you to directly replace the area you are editing.

DxO has also enhanced the software’s ability to manage images by keyword, making it easier to search for images.

DxO PhotoLab 3 adds support for recent cameras such as the Canon G5 X Mark II and G7 X Mark III, the Nikon P1000, the Panasonic Lumix G90/G95/G99/G91, the Lumix DC FZ1000 II and Lumix TZ95/ZS80, the Ricoh GR III and the Sony A7R IV and RX100 VII.

DxO PhotoLab 3 Price

DxO PhotoLab 3 Essential Edition is priced at £86.99/$99.99, later rising to £112/$129. The price tag for the Elite Edition is £129.99/$149.99, later rising to £169/$199.
