DJI has officially launched the RS 4 Mini, a compact and lightweight gimbal designed to enhance the filming experience for content creators. Weighing just 890 g (less than 2 pounds) and supporting payloads of up to 2 kg (4.4 pounds), the RS 4 Mini caters to vloggers, solo cinematographers, and independent commercial videographers seeking a portable yet powerful stabiliser. You can check out my review of the original DJI RS 3 Mini here.
The RS 4 Mini introduces 2nd-Gen automated axis locks, enabling users to unlock all three axis locks in just one second, streamlining setup and storage. Additionally, the gimbal includes a 3rd-Gen Native Vertical Switch for rapid transitions between horizontal and vertical shooting. Enhanced by Teflon™ interlayers and a fine-tuning knob, users can achieve precise millimetre-level balancing for seamless operation.
Among the notable features is the new DJI RS Intelligent Tracking Module, which supports intelligent framing and composition. ActiveTrack can keep a subject in frame up to 10 meters away, even in complex environments, using gesture commands or a trigger press. The gimbal also boasts a 4th-gen stabilisation algorithm, delivering superior stability for both horizontal and vertical shots.
The RS 4 Mini is equipped with a 1.4-inch full-colour LCD touchscreen, Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, and supports wireless camera control for efficient one-handed operation. The built-in battery provides up to 13 hours of operation, with fast charging delivering five hours of use from just a 30-minute charge.
