DJI has announced it’s latest mobile handheld gimbal stabiliser the DJI OM 4. The new design and name are a major innovation for the company with a more compact design and magnetic clasp system that will enhance ease of use and new features for anyone wanting to capture smooth stabilised footage with their mobile devices.
The new stabiliser features a new high capacity battery that will provide up to 15 hours of use. This battery can also be used as a portable battery charger, which is handy, especially if you’re draining your smartphone’s power filming.
The new model has the high build quality that we’ve come to expect from DJI, which should ensure that it’s durable and long-lasting. One of the major updates to this generation of OM are the motors. These have been upgraded to enable the support of far heavier smartphones than it’s predecessors.
“As the DJI OM smartphone stabilisers have evolved over the years, every iteration has made it easier for anyone to add rock-solid stabilisation to their photos and videos. With its new magnetic attachment and folding design, the DJI OM 4 again goes farther so anyone, no matter their experience with gimbals, can pick it up and make content that pulls in the viewer,” said Paul Pan, Senior Product Line Manager at DJI. “
The use of smartphones and video calls has accelerated due to the pandemic and using the DJI OM 4 is a great way to improve the visual quality of your video as you stay connected with friends and family whilst on the move. Essentially it will help to eliminate the shake replacing it with smooth looking visuals.
Magnetic connection
If you’ve ever used a handheld gimbal stabiliser before then, you’ll know that the major issue with them is connecting your phone with one hand. This latest version features a magnetic clamp that attaches to your phone and then magnetically clips in place on the phone.
It’s an inspired innovation and makes connecting and disconnecting your phone easy. The clamp itself is full metal, and slimline so once clamped onto your phone it can be left in place.
Capture and share
Along with the new mobile gimbal stabiliser is an update to the fully-featured Mimo app. This new version enhances ActiveTrack 3.0, Gesture control, Pre-programmed Movements and Modes, DynamicZoom, Timelapse, Motionlapse, Hyperlapse, Slow-motion, Sport Mode, Panoramas, Spin Shot Gimbal Movement and Story Mode Templates. These modes and feature s along with settings can be quickly accessed through the app.
