Canon has announced a trio of new RF lenses, introducing the RF 100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM, RF 400mm F2.8L and RF 600mm F4L IS USM optics.
Canon RF 100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM
The Canon RF 100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM, is the world’s first AF macro lens that offers a 1.4x magnification. Aimed at macro, still life and portrait photographers, its 1.4:1 magnification ratio is delivered by its floating system and short back focusing.
What’s more, the Canon RF 100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM introduces a new Spherical Aberration Control ring that allows users to adjust the look of the background and foreground bokeh, as well as create a soft focus effect on the subject.
Other features include a maximum f/2.8 aperture for shallow depth of field effects, dual nano USM motors for faster AF and up to five stops of optical image stabilisation (and up to eight stops when used with the Canon EOS R5 or R6).
Canon RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM & RF 600mm F4L IS USM
Canon’s new RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM & RF 600mm F4L IS USM super telephoto lenses are aimed at sport and wildlife photographers and based on the popular EF-mount versions.
Both new Canon RF lenses provide up to 5.5 stops of image stabilisation, and their fast maximum apertures mean they can perform in low-light conditions.
Both the Canon RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM & RF 600mm F4L IS USM feature Fluorite and Super UD glass, along with ASC and Super Spectra coatings.
Both lenses also feature three manual-focus speeds, allowing users to make adjustments without switching modes. Photographers can also store two focus pre-sets for quick recall.
