How to Make Black Friday Work for You
News

If you’re looking to get your hands on a new Canon camera at an unbeatable price, we’ve got some great news for you: Black Friday 2017 is here. And on this page we will bring you all of the best Canon Black Friday deals as they come in.

Have you been daydreaming about that Canon Rebel T6 (AKA Canon 1300D) or EOS 5D Mark IV? Or maybe the EOS 80D is more your speed. Whatever your Canon camera fancy, this year’s Black Friday is the perfect opportunity to grab one at a fantastic price.

Smart shoppers know that Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year in the US and the UK. It takes place the Friday after Thanksgiving and marks the beginning of the holiday retail season. Merchants and manufacturers offer the year’s best deals and discounts on a wide range of products, including your favourite Canon SLR.

While the promise of low prices is certainly exciting, it can be quite the chore to sort through all the retailers and offers. To help you find the best deal on your new Canon this Black Friday, we’ve assembled a brief outline of the year’s most popular Canon models along with some predictions as to what kinds of savings you can expect.

The Canon Crop
Without a doubt, Canon is one of the industry’s top manufacturers. From pocket-sized point-and-shoot compact cameras to full-fledged professional-level DSLRs, Canon’s line has something for every level of photographer.

With such an extensive range of SLRs, it can be hard to determine which model is right for you. Some models stand out from the rest, however, and this is a good place to start.

If you’re a beginner, Canon’s EOS Rebel SL2 (200D), T6 (1300D), T6s (760D), T6i (760D), SL1 (100D) and T5i (700D) are user-friendly and high-functioning. With features such as touch screens (with the exception of the T6/1300D), accurate and speedy AF, low light capability and advanced image sensor and processor technology, these EOS models steer novices in the right direction to produce superior quality images.

Last year’s Black Friday sales featured great deals on all five of these Rebel models. The T5i had one of the best deals of the season with a generously trimmed price tag of just $399 that included a kit lens, camera bag, printer and memory card.

The T6i and T6s saw modest markdowns of around $150 which is to be expected since they were only introduced last year. The lightweight SL1 was reduced from $549 to $349 (body only). The T6 came through in spades with deluxe bundling options that are still available today. This year, look for similar savings in the Rebel line, especially in the now out-of-date T5i model.

Enthusiast-level cameras

If an enthusiast SLR is more your speed, check out Canon’s EOS 80D and EOS 7D Mark II. These intermediate models offer powerful image processing, built-in Wi-Fi, superior handling and fast continuous shooting.

The price tags increase with features such as these, but most photographers believe it’s well worth it once they make the switch.

The EOS 7D Mark II boasted some of the seasons best deals in 2015, offering hundreds of dollars in instant savings along with PIXMA PRO-100 printers. The EOS 80D is new this year, so look for price reductions to be rather minimal in comparison.

Semi-pro and Professional-level cameras

Canon’s most popular professional models include the EOS 5DS, EOS 5DS R, EOS 5D Mark III and IV, EOS 6D, EOS-1D C, EOS-1D X and EOS-1D X Mark II. This wide range of advanced cameras promises the utmost in image quality, performance and reliability. They can be used in any weather conditions and feature the industry’s leading technology.

While it can be a bit more difficult to find Black Friday deals on professional-grade cameras, Canon has followed through in years past with incredible markdowns and bundled offers.

The 5DS and 5DS R were marked down $300 each during last year’s sales, while the older EOS 6D is currently $830 below its launch price. Like the EOS 7D Mark II, the EOS 5D Mark III was offered at a heavily discounted rate along with a free PIXMA PRO-100 printer.

The EOS 5D Mark IV and the EOS-1D X Mark II were both introduced in 2016 so they probably won’t be marked down too heavily. The EOS-1D X, however, was reduced by $700 last Black Friday and the EOS-1D C is already offered at a massively discounted $4999 online (body only).

With so many popular entry-level, enthusiast and professional SLRs to choose from, you’ll have no trouble finding a great bargain on the perfect Canon this holiday season.

Major Retailers
While you could venture into the fray and pick up your camera in-store this Black Friday, you’ll likely find the same deals and more selection online. US-based shoppers can find Canon discounts on Amazon, Adorama, B&H Photo and Best Buy, while the leading UK retailers are Amazon UK, John Lewis, London Camera Exchange, Wex, Currys PC World, Camera World and Argos.

Make sure to peruse these sites well before Black Friday so you can compare prices in advance and save your favourite model in a wish list. With Canon’s great reputation for heavy Black Friday discounts, however, you might just find more than one in your shopping cart.
