You can tell summer is on the way when the first of the new wave of action cameras arrives. One of the first to launch this year is the AKASO Brave 6 Plus, an update to the AKASO Brave 6.
Checking through the feature list and everything appears to be in check, 4K at 30fps, waterproof to 40m with the included case, 8x zoom, touch screen, voice control and 20mp stills.
The AKASO Brave 6 Plus has an interesting mix of tried and tested features, such as the 4k at 30fps and new features such as voice control, and true EIS. Both of these newer features have been popularised by the GoPro, Garmin and DJI lines of cameras, and are now essential for any new action camera.
EIS has gone from something of a quirk to an action camera essential, and this new AKASO camera features built-in 3-axis electronic image stabilisation. This should mean that the footage you shoot is silky smooth without the normal camera wobble attributed to hand holding the camera.
As ever the camera comes with a waterproof housing that will protect the camera down to a depth of 40m. As well as protecting the camera against water this case has been designed tough and will also help avoid damage to the camera from rocks, dust and scratches.
AS previously mentioned new to this camera is Voice Control, a feature that until recently could only be found on premium cameras. This ability to start and stop recording is a major benefit and ideal if you need to use the camera hands-free.
Another big feature of the AKASO Brave 6 Plus is the ability to plug in an external mic, making this an ideal option for anyone wanting a go anywhere vlogging camera.
