Nikon has announced the launch of the NIKKOR Z 24-105mm f/4-7.1, a versatile new zoom lens for full-frame Z-mount cameras. Designed to support photographers and content creators looking for lightweight portability and broad focal range coverage, the lens is set to go on sale from 22 January 2026 with a recommended retail price of £529 (UK) / €619 (ROI).
With its 24–105mm zoom range, this compact lens is ideal for travel, street, and general-purpose photography—allowing users to capture everything from wide city scenes and landscapes to mid-telephoto portraits and close-up details. The lens also performs admirably for handheld video, making it a practical all-rounder for hybrid shooters working with compact full-frame bodies like the Nikon Z5II.
Weighing in at just 350g, the Z 24-105mm f/4-7.1 is well-balanced for all-day shooting, particularly when paired with lighter Z-series cameras. Despite its small size, it offers impressive close-up capabilities, with a 0.5x reproduction ratio and a minimum focus distance of 0.2 m at 24mm, extending to 0.28 m at 105mm. This makes it well suited to capturing product shots, food photography, and creative detail work with naturally rendered backgrounds.
Autofocus is powered by a quiet stepping motor (STM), ensuring fast and discreet performance for both stills and video. It integrates smoothly with Nikon’s subject detection AF systems, and its near-silent operation helps avoid unwanted audio interference in footage.
