The Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards for 2018 are now open for entries, organisers have announced.
Now in its 54th year, the prestigious competition run by the Natural History Museum in London is open to amateur, professional and young photographers alike until until 11.30am GMT, Thursday 14 December 2017.
Photographer Brent Stirton won the 2017 Award for his compelling image Memorial to a species, which frames a recently shot and de-horned black rhino in South Africa’s Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve.
The recently awarded images are on display at the Natural History Museum until 28 May 2018.
Winning competition images reach an audience of millions in the annual exhibition, organisers say, which tours the UK and internationally. Winning images are also published in a limited edition hardcover book.
What’s more, the overall winner and young winners will receive a cash prize. Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2018 winners will be announced in October 2018.
