Venus Optics has revealed the official price and release date for its Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO lens.
With an expected release date of late May, the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO lens price tag will be $449 for the Canon EF, Nikon F and Sony FE mount version available.
Announced earlier this year, the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 features 12 elements in 10 groups and weighs 638g.
Interestingly, the Canon version of the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2:1 Macro lens contains a CPU chip and aperture motor that enables photographers to control the aperture and exposure through the camera itself and record the EXIF data into the photos.
There’s also a focus indicator shown in the camera to assist focusing. This is designed to help macro photographers when composing at smaller f-stop, as the aperture will only close when shutter is released, making the viewfinder brighter.
