Venus Optics has officially announced its Laowa 24mm f/14 2x Macro Probe lens, which provides bug-eye perspectives not achieved by traditional macro lenses.

The Laowa 24mm f/14 2x Macro Probe lens can focus as close as 2cm at a magnification ration of 2:1. The Laowa Probe also offers a wide-angle view of 84.1 degrees, providing more depth of field at a close distance.

The Laowa Probe lens barrel is 40cm long, or 15.7 inches, which enables photographers to focus close to subjects while physically being further away.

What’s more, the Laowa lens’s tip is just 0.2cm in diameter, allowing users to photograph at ground level with ease. You can also insert the lens into small holes, bottles and other narrow spaces to shoot.

Venus Optics has also provided a small LED ring light on the tip of the Laowa Probe for focus assistance and video shooting.

Other features include a waterproof and dustproof design, and a weight of just 1.04 pounds.

The Laowa Probe lens is available in Canon EF, Nikon F and Sony FE mounts. A cine version with click-less aperture and focus gears in Arri PL mount is also available.

The Laowa 24mm f/14 2x Macro Probe lens price tag is $1,499 and available to order on Kickstarter.
