Using the Profoto D2 to defy gravity

News

Last week at Photokina 2016, Swedish photography lighting manufacturer Profoto unveiled its new D2 moonlight, which claims to be one of the fastest TTL moonlights available.

Among the features of the Profoto D2 are:

  • Quick flash durations up to 1/63,000sec to freeze splashes in mid-air.
  • Shoot up to 20 flashes per second
  • Profoto’s High-Speed Sync can let you shoot with shutter speeds at up to 1,8000sec, allowing you to shoot with a large aperture in bright conditions
  • Point and shoot in TTL mode

Profoto says the D2’s speed and flexibility allows you to take control of the light in any conditions, and in the video above photographer Ali Riffai brought his Canon EOS 1DX Mark II, a trampoline and a group of skydivers into the studio to see what the Profoto D2 could accomplish. The results are pretty astounding.
