Tokina has announced the ATX-i 100mm f/2.8 Macro FF lens, price tag $429, for full-frame Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras.

The Tokina ATX-i 100mm f/2.8 is compatible with Canon EF and Nikon F-mount cameras and offers 1:1 reproduction at 30cm from the sensor.

Tokina says the new lens’s ‘flat-field’ optical design suppresses field of view curvature to zero, helping it achieve edge-to-edge sharpness. Its optical construction also comprises nine elements in eight groups, while multi-coatings help render natural colours and reduce aberrations.

Tokina has also added a OneTouch Focus Clutch Mechanism to allow users to quickly switch from AF to manual focus. To make the switch, simply snap the focus ring back towards the camera to enable MF control.

What’s more, Tokina says the directional rotation of the focus ring matches the direction of proprietary Nikon and Canon lenses.

The Tokina ATX-i 100mm f/2.8 Macro FF will be released on 6 December.
