Tiffen has launched the Steadicam Steadimate-S, a new vest adapter worn over the chest that can fit single-handed stabilisers such as the DJI Ronin-S to help reduce fatigue.
Debuting at the NAB 2019 show in Las Vegas, the body-worn Steadicam Steadimate-S promises to extend the operating time of gimbals like the Ronin-S while delivering all the same range of movement and panning ability.
Tiffen says the Steadicam Steadimate-S also promises to ‘completely eliminate’ the bob effect one often experiences with single-handed stabilizers thanks to its x- and y-axis stabilisation.
Meanwhile a Steadicam arm provides z-axis stabilisation.
The Tiffen Steadimate-S comes with a post block and balance pin that fits arms with 1/2-inch posts. The Steadimate-S adapter can be purchased on its own for use with existing arms and vests, or as a complete kit available in two versions.
The Steadimate-S 15 System kit comes with the A-15 Arm & Scout Vest and offers a 15lbs/6.8kg weight capacity, while the Steadimate-S 30 System comes with the A-30 Arm & Zephyr Vest and boasts a 30lbs/13.6kg capacity.
No official Steadicam Steadimate-S price tag has been announced as yet.
