Camera lenses are almost synonymous with glass and complex design, but start-up firm Thingyfy has turned that notion on its head.

The company has announced the development of what it says is the world’s first multi-aperture pinhole lens, sans glass, introducing the Thingyfy Pinhole Pro on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

The Thingyfy Pinhole Pro has already exceeded its funding goal at the time of writing, and those who support the project at this stage can purchase this pinhole lens at an early bird price of just $79 regardless of your mount.

The Thingyfy Pinhole Pro is available in Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony A, Pentax K, Sony E, Fuji X and Micro Four Thirds mounts.

As well as shoot traditional pinhole image, Thingyfy says you can also use it to shoot video – at 30 or 60fps – or timelapse photography. Thingyfy says

We want to position Pinhole Pro at the intersection of two existing products: the Zero Optik 35mm Pinhole (Cost around $1500 USD with minimal functionality) and the Skink Pancake Pinhole (Lower end entry level lens cost around $50 USD). There’s currently no other similar lens in the market that can allow users to switch between different apertures and sharpness in a single pinhole lens.
