Tamron has announced the 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD (Model A037), priced £629.99 / $599.99, for Canon and Nikon full-frame DSLRs.

The new Tamron ultra-wide-angle zoom is designed for landscapes, as well as everyday photography. The Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD boasts a 7-blade diaphragm with a circular aperture for smoother bokeh, and an optical construction of 15 elements in 10 groups.

The Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD’s optical construction also incorporates four LD lens elements to minimise axial chromatic aberrations that sometimes occur with wide-angle zoom lenses.

Its minimum object distance for the entire zoom range is 11 inches, and the new Tamron lens promises silent AF due to its Optimized Silent Drive.

Other features include coating to prevent ghosting and a fluorine coating to repel water and oil from the front of the lens.

Tamron says the new Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD (Model A037) is also moisture resistant thanks to seals around the lens mount and other locations.

The Nikon mount version of the Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD (Model A037) will be released on 4 September. The Canon mount version’s released date will be announced soon.
