Tamron has announced a new high-speed standard zoom for Sony E-mount cameras, introducing the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD, price tag £699 / $799.

As well as its f/2.8 aperture, the new Tamron lens is constructed of 15 elements in 12 groups, which includes an XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) element, LD (Low Dispersion) element, GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) element and two hybrid aspherical lens elements for smooth bokeh, Tamron says.

Other features of the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD include a Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive (RXD) for quiet autofocus in both video and still capture, and Tamron says the new lens will fully match with various camera-specific features including the in-camera lens correction and Direct Manual Focus (DMF) system features of Sony cameras.
